Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the bulb(s) to the socket(s), if required.

  3. Install the lens to the high mounted stop lamp housing by aligning the tabs on the lens to the housing and press into place until fully seated, if required.

  5. Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.
  6. Install the high mounted stop lamp to the rear compartment lid, pressing into place until the retainers hold the housing.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
    IMPORTANT: Inspect the gasket to the lens for proper fit while tightening the nuts.
  8. Install the nuts to the high mounted stop lamp.

    Tighten:  Tighten the high mounted stop lamp nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  9. Close the rear compartment.
