High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement

High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement

Callout Component Name
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
Fastener Tightening Specifications:  Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Seat Cushion Replacement - Rear .
  2. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Non-folding) or Seat Back Replacement - Rear (Folding) .
  3. Remove the rear upper quarter trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper .
1 Retainer, Rear Window Panel Trim (Qty: 2)
Tip:  Use a J 38778  Door Trim Clip Remover or equivalent to remove the retainer.
Tools Required: 
J 38778  Door Trim Clip Remover
2 Trim Assembly, Rear Window Panel
Tip: 
  1. Lift the panel and remove the outside seat belts through the slots in the trim panel.
  2. Lift the panel and remove the center seat belt escutcheon, then pass it and the center seat belt through the slot in the trim panel.
  3. Slide the panel forward to disengage the integral hook from the retaining hole.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mount stop lamp.
3 Nut, High Mount Stop Lamp (Qty: 2)

Tighten:  2 N.m (18 lb in)

4 Lamp, High Mount Stop
Tip:  The high mount stop lamp uses LED bulbs and must be serviced as an assembly.
