Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Fig 1: Lower Stabilizer Shaft Link Nut

  4. Remove the lower stabilizer shaft link nut (1).

  6. Disconnect the stabilizer shaft link (1) from the lower control arm.
  7. Disconnect the electronic suspension front position sensor link from the lower control arm ball stud and position aside, if equipped.

  9. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness bracket bolt (1) and position the bracket and harness aside.
  10. NOTE:

    Position the jack so the lower shock absorber nuts are not obstructed.

  11. Support the lower control arm with a post jack.

  13. Remove the lower ball joint nut (1).
  14. NOTE:

    Adjust the position of the jack so the tool does not contact the ball joint seal.

  15. Using the J-43631  Ball Joint Remover, separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle.
  16. Support the steering knuckle.

  18. Remove the lower shock absorber nuts (1).

  20. Remove the lower shock absorber bolts (1).
  21. Carefully remove the post jack.

  23. Remove the lower control arm nuts (1).

  25. Remove the lower control arm adjustment cams (1).

    NOTE:

    If equipped with RPO Z06 or ZR1, discard the bolts.

  27. Remove the lower control arm bolts (1).
  28. Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle.
