Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning .

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
    2. Fig 1: Exhaust Muffler, Fasteners & Gaskets

  2. Remove the exhaust muffler fasteners (1) and detach the exhaust muffler (3) from the exhaust front pipe.
  3. Support the exhaust muffler with mechanics wire.
  4. Discard the exhaust gasket (2).
  5. Support the drivetrain and front suspension rear frame with a support jack.

  6. Loosen the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (1).
  7. Remove the drivetrain and front suspension support fasteners (2).
  8. Support the rear exhaust front pipe with mechanics wire.
  9. Rotate the drivetrain and front suspension supports (3) away from the front hanger bracket.

  10. Remove the exhaust front pipe fasteners (1) and lower the exhaust front pipe (3) to the floor.
  11. Discard the exhaust gaskets (2).
  12. If replacing the exhaust front pipe, transfer necessary parts.
