Installation Procedure

Clean all sealing surfaces.
Install the closing plate (1).

Install the 4 closing plate bolts (2) and tighten in two passes:
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
1. First pass to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).
2. Final pass to an additional 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Install a NEW exhaust gas recirculation valve flat washer (5).
Install the exhaust gas recirculation valve (3).
Install the 2 exhaust gas recirculation valve bolts (4) and tighten in two passes:
1. First pass to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
2. Final pass to an additional 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Position the exhaust pressure sensor pipe (5).

Install the 3 exhaust pressure sensor pipe bolts (3, 6) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
Connect the exhaust gas recirculation valve wiring harness plug.
Clip in the 3 wiring harness clips (1) to the exhaust gas recirculation pipe bracket (2).

Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE-47716 Fill) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) .
Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
