Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Buick Cascada, 2018 Buick Cascada, and 2017 Buick Cascada. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. GM3462387

    Install the brake caliper bracket (1) to the steering knuckle.

  2. CAUTION:

    This is a self-retaining fastener joint that does not require thread locking compounds. Do not attempt to clean the threads with a standard tap. If a standard tap is used, damage to the joint threads will occur.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the NEW brake caliper bracket bolts (2) and tighten a first pass to 150 N.m (111 lb ft).
  4. Tighten the NEW brake caliper bracket bolts a final pass to an additional 45 - 60 degrees, using the EN-45059  meter.

    Apply a thin coat of high temperature silicone lube to the 2 brake caliper guide pins (1). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .

  6. Install the 2 brake caliper guide pins (1) to the brake caliper bracket.
  7. Check the guide pin boots (2) for correct fitting.
  8. GM2027334

    Apply a very thin coating of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the pad hardware mating surfaces of the caliper bracket only. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers  for the recommended lubricant.

  9. Install the brake pad retainer springs (1).

    NOTE:

    The wear sensor equipped disc brake pad must be mounted inboard of the rotor with the leading edge of the sensor facing the brake rotor during forward wheel rotation, or at the top of the pad when installed in vehicle position.

    Install the brake pad retainers (3) to the brake caliper bracket.

  11. Remove the support and reposition the brake caliper (2) over the brake pads and to the caliper bracket. Assure that guide pin bolts boots apply firmly.
  12. Install guide pin bolts and tighten to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
  13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  16. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  17. Wait 15 seconds, then gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance again until a firm brake pedal apply is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  18. Fill the master cylinder auxiliary reservoir to the proper level. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
