Front Axle Lubricant Level Inspection

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    NOTE:
    • Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content
    • Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [ 2x ]

  4. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [ 5x ]
  5. Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove

    Clean any dirt from around the front differential carrier oil filler plug (1).

  7. Remove the front differential carrier oil filler plug (1) from the front differential carrier.
  8. NOTE:

    Do NOT overfill the front differential carrier. Overfilling the front differential carrier can cause leakage out the front differential housing vent.

  9. Inspect the gear lubricant level to ensure it is at the bottom of the plug opening.
  10. Fill the front differential carrier with the appropriate amount and type of axle lubricant as needed:
  11. Install the front differential carrier filler plug (1) to the front differential carrier and tighten. Fastener Specifications

    Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Install

  13. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [ 5x ] - Fastener Specifications
  14. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Install [ 2x ]
  15. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  16. Lower the vehicle.
