Front Axle Lubricant Level Inspection

- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- NOTE:
- Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content
- Some components not shown for graphic clarity.
Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [ 2x ]
- Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [ 5x ]
- Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove
Clean any dirt from around the front differential carrier oil filler plug (1).
- Remove the front differential carrier oil filler plug (1) from the front differential carrier.
- Inspect the gear lubricant level to ensure it is at the bottom of the plug opening.
- Fill the front differential carrier with the appropriate amount and type of axle lubricant as needed:
- Install the front differential carrier filler plug (1) to the front differential carrier and tighten. Fastener Specifications
Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Install
- Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [ 5x ] - Fastener Specifications
- Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Install [ 2x ]
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
Do NOT overfill the front differential carrier. Overfilling the front differential carrier can cause leakage out the front differential housing vent.
