Wiper Chatter Repair: Procedure

If the vehicle exhibits a condition where the windshield wipers chatter and/or wipe unevenly, each of the following items should be completed as necessary.
- Clean the exterior of the windshield using an appropriate glass cleaning product. The cleaner should not harm the paint finish or glass surface.
- Lift the windshield wiper arm to the service-up position.
- With a cloth saturated in full strength washer solvent, clean the windshield wiper element until no further residue is seen.
- Inspect the windshield wiper blade elements for damage, replacing as necessary.
Windshield Wiper Blade (2) - Remove
- Using a suitable tool, release the windshield wiper blade (2) retaining clip.
- Release the retention tab securing the windshield wiper blade (2) to the windshield wiper arm (1).
- Remove the windshield wiper blade (2) from the windshield wiper arm (1).
Windshield Wiper Blade (2) - Install
- Install the windshield wiper blade (2) onto the windshield wiper arm (1).
- Seat the windshield wiper blade (2) retaining clip to the windshield wiper blade.
- Return the windshield wiper arm (1) to the original position on the windshield.
NOTE:
Do not leave the windshield wiper arm in the service-up position without a windshield wiper blade installed.
