Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)

    Oil Filler Cap - Remove

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Remove

    NOTE:

    To avoid small parts like bolts or retainers fallen into the engine, install the Oil Filler Cap.

    Oil Filler Cap (1) - Install

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Fresh Air Tube (1) @ Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Turbocharger Outlet Duct Front Clamp (1) - Loosen

  8. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (5) - Loosen
  9. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  10. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Nut (3) - Remove
  11. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (4) - Remove

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  13. Remove the air cleaner housing from the retainers.
  14. Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]

  17. Charge Air Cooler Coolant Hose Retainer (2) - Disengage [2x]
  18. Charge Air Cooler Coolant Hose (3) - Reposition [2x]
  19. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Clamp (4) - Loosen
  20. Disconnect the electrical connector. (5)

    Charge Air Cooler (1) - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Clamp Nut (1) - Remove

  25. Charge Air Cooler Coolant Hose (2) - Reposition

    Clip (1) - Release [2x]

    Clip (1) - Release [3x]

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  29. Oil Level Indicator Tube Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove
  30. Oil Level Indicator - Reposition
  31. Disconnect the electrical connectors and release the wiring harness retainers as necessary.

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Remove

    Intake Manifold Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

  34. Intake Manifold (2) - Remove

    Intake Manifold Gasket @ Intake Manifold (1) - Remove and DISCARD

    Use a suitable tool to rotate the drive belt tensioner (1) counterclockwise to relieve tension from the accessory drive primary belt (2).

  37. Remove the accessory drive primary belt (2) from the pulleys and tensioner (1).
  38. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner (1).

    Drive Belt Tensioner Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

  40. Drive Belt Tensioner (1) - Remove
  41. Clean and inspect the drive belt surfaces of all the pulleys.

    Battery Positive and Negative Cable Nut (1) - Remove

  43. Battery Positive and Negative Cable (2) @ Generator - Disconnect
  44. Electrical Connector (3) - Disconnect
  45. Wiring Harness Retainer (4) - Remove

    NOTE:

    Bolts must be completely loosened but remain in generator until removal.

    Generator Bolt (1) - Loosen [2x]

    Generator (1) - Remove

  48. Generator Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  50. Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (1) - Remove
