Removal Procedure

Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief
Drain the fuel tank. Fuel Tank Draining
Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
Remove the propeller shaft. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
Using a suitable jack stand, support the differential carrier assembly.

Differential Carrier Front Bolt (1) - Remove

Lower the support stand to gain access to the 6 driveline torque tube bolts.
Remove the 6 driveline torque tube bolts (1) from the differential carrier assembly.

NOTE:
The driveline torque tube and differential carrier are balanced as an assembly. When re-using the original driveline torque tube it should be re-installed in the same position in relation the pinion splines.

Slowly separate the driveline torque tube from the differential carrier and use a paint pen, or a suitable marker, to mark the relationship of the driveline torque tube splined shaft to the differential carrier pinion (1).

NOTE:
If any fluid is found in the torque tube, check the condition of pinion oil seal.

Driveline Torque Tube (1) @ Differential Carrier Assembly - Remove
Rear Wheel Drive Differential Carrier Housing Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

Wiring Harness (1) - Disconnect
Fuel Tank Filler Hose Clamp (2) - Loosen
Fuel Tank Filler Hose (3) - Remove
Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Hose (4) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

Fuel Pump Fuel Feed Hose (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Hose (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Disconnect the hose and wiring harness retainers as necessary.

Place a suitable adjustable jack under the fuel tank.
Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
