Removal Procedure
Refer to Diesel / Gasoline Vapors Warning .
Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief
- Drain the fuel tank. Fuel Tank Draining
- Remove the propeller shaft. Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement
- Using a suitable jack stand, support the differential carrier assembly.
Differential Carrier Front Bolt (1) - Remove
Lower the support stand to gain access to the driveline torque tube bolts.
- Remove the six driveline torque tube bolts (1) from the differential carrier assembly.
- NOTE:
The driveline torque tube and differential carrier are balanced as an assembly. When re-using the original driveline torque tube it should be re-installed in the same position in relation the pinion splines.
Slowly separate the driveline torque tube from the differential carrier and use a paint pen, or a suitable marker, to mark the relationship of the driveline torque tube splined shaft to the differential carrier pinion (1).
- NOTE:
If any fluid is found in the torque tube, check the condition of pinion oil seal.
Driveline Torque Tube (1) @ Differential Carrier Assembly - Remove
- Rear Wheel Drive Differential Carrier Housing Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD
Wiring Harness (1) - Disconnect
- Fuel Tank Filler Hose Clamp (2) - Loosen
- Fuel Tank Filler Hose (3) - Remove
- Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Hose (4) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Fuel Pump Fuel Feed Hose (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Hose (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Disconnect the hose and wiring harness retainers as necessary.
Place a suitable adjustable jack under the fuel tank.
- Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Fuel Tank Strap (2) - Remove [2x]
Fuel Tank (1) - Remove
Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect [2x]
- Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Hose (3) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Release the evaporative emission canister vent hose (3) from retaining clip (4) reposition away.
- Fuel Pump Fuel Feed Hose (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Release the fuel pump fuel feed hose (2) from retaining clip (4) reposition away.
Fuel Pump Lock Ring (1) - Remove - CH 45722 Fuel Sender Lock Ring Wrench
Fuel Pump Vent Pipe (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Transfer Pipe (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module (1) - Remove
- Fuel Pump Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD
