Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Cracked Window Warning

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

WARNING:

While operating, electrical control modules can produce heat and become hotter than their surroundings. To prevent burns allow sufficient time for the module to cool before removal.

CAUTION:

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

CAUTION:

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    Windshield Wiper Arm - Left Side and Right Side (3) - Remove [2x]

    1. Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the windshield wiper arm finish cap (1) from the windshield wiper arm (3).
    2. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
    3. Use the BO 49385  Wiper Arm Puller to remove the wiper arm (3) from the wiper motor pivot shaft.

    Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    1. Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]
    2. Front Fender Rear Air Inlet Seal (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Compartment Side Sight Shield - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    1. Front Compartment Side Sight Shield Retainer (1) - Remove [4x]
    2. Front Compartment Side Sight Shield (2) - Remove [2x]

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    1. Apply two layers of masking tape around the top edge of the service part to prevent paint damage.
    2. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the air inlet grille panel extension clips.
    3. Remove the air inlet grille panel extension (1) from the air inlet grille panel and upper front fender.

    Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove

    1. Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [8x]
    2. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
    3. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges to remove.

    NOTE:

    Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

  8. Pull the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
  9. NOTE:

    Tether and Bolt are integral to the Windshield Garnish Molding.

  10. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
  11. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
  12. Disconnect the electrical connector. [2x]
  13. Windshield Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Using a plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the cover to release from windshield.

  15. Squeeze tabs on insert and pull apart from cover.
  16. NOTE:

    The windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover and cover insert has to be removed as a single unit from the windshield surface to prevent damage to mirror.

    Pull downward to completely remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from windshield.

  19. NOTE:

    The windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover and cover insert has to be removed as a single unit from the windshield surface to prevent damage to mirror.

  20. Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover (1) - Remove

    Release the retaining tabs.

  22. Front View Camera (1) - Remove
  23. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  25. Inside Rearview Mirror Bolt (1) - Remove
  26. Inside Rearview Mirror (2) - Remove
  27. {If equipped} Windshield Outside Moisture/Ambient Light and Humidity Sensor - Remove

      Roof Wiring Harness (1) @ Wiring Harness Retainer - Reposition

      Release the retaining tabs.

    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    4. Windshield Outside Moisture/Ambient Light and Humidity Sensor (1) - Remove
  28. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
    • Upper Dash Pad
    • The defroster outlets and A/C outlets
    • The seats and carpeting
  29. {If equipped} Remove the lower windshield supports from the cowl panel.
  30. NOTE:

    Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.

  31. {If equipped} Using the appropriate tool, carefully cut around the lace, start in the center working from side to side of the window to access the urethane adhesive bead.

    NOTE:

    Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.

    Use BO-24402-A  Glass Sealant Remover (1) to remove the window.

    • Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
    • The only suitable lubrication is clear water.

    With the aid of an assistant, remove the windshield (1) and locating pin (2) from the vehicle.
