Diagnostic Test Procedure

Diagnostic test procedures are designed to detect system faults as quickly as possible. Body fault codes are accessed through Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus diagnostic connector. On Dynasty and New Yorker, CCD bus diagnostic connector is located under middle of dashboard. On Fifth Avenue and Imperial, CCD bus diagnostic connector is located under left side of dash. See Fig 1 . Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box II (DRB-II) tester is used to access information from CCD bus diagnostic connector.

DRB-II tester, jumper wires, analog volt/ohmmeter and circuit tester will be needed for testing. Proceed to TEST 1: IDENTIFYING VEHICLE EQUIPMENT & SYSTEM PROBLEMS in this article. When system problem is identified according to customer's complaint, perform diagnostic test indicated in flow chart. Information for using the DRB-II during testing is given in diagnostic charts. Once problem has been determined, perform test procedures using these guidelines:

1. Always start at the first test in each category or incorrect results may occur.
2. Only perform test steps indicated. It is NOT necessary to perform all steps in a test.
3. At the end of each test step, reconnect all wires and install any components removed for testing.
4. Vehicle battery must be fully charged.
5. Use extreme care when connecting or disconnecting wiring during testing to prevent accidental grounding or shorting.
6. DO NOT use a test light in place of a voltmeter. Damage to electronic components may occur.
