Test 40B - Dimming Interior Displays

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure DRB is monitoring panel lamps switch status. Disconnect left pod switch connector. See Figure . Check and clean connections. If DRB displays STEP UP : ON, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch. If DRB does not display STEP UP : ON, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect automatic temperature control module (if equipped), located behind dash above radio. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If DRB displays STEP UP : ON, replace automatic temperature control module. If DRB does not display STEP UP : ON, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect radio connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If DRB displays STEP UP : ON, replace radio. If DRB does not display STEP UP : ON, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at BCM Black connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Black wire). If voltage is more than one volt, repair Yellow/Black wire for short between BCM Black connector and battery. If voltage is less than one volt, replace BCM.
