Test 40E - Dimming Interior Displays
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR
IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Turn park lamps off. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Using an external ohmmeter, with BCM connectors connected, measure resistance at BCM Natural connector terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to TEST 40F. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect both BCM connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance at BCM Natural body terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Ensure external ohmmeter is still connected. Disconnect left pod switch connector. See Figure . Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Orange/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and dimmer switch connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch.
