Test 40H - Dimming Interior Displays

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. With both connectors connected, measure resistance at BCM Natural connector terminal No. 16 (Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 3). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance at BCM Natural connector terminal No. 19 (Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Orange wire between BCM Natural connector and dimmer switch connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 8. SeeFigure .
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms in step 1), disconnect BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance at BCM Natural connector terminal No. 16 (Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Brown wire between BCM Natural connector and fuse No. 8 for short to ground. Replace fuse No. 8. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Replace fuse No. 8.
