Windshield Wiper Test 2B - Wipers Not Working At All
NOTE:
Perform WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Stop low speed wiper motor actuation. Using scan tool, read intermittent wipe sensor. Observe scan tool and move wiper switch from OFF position to HI position. If scan tool displays INTRMT WIPE: with zero volts, go to next step. If scan tool displays INTRMT WIPE: with a voltage more than zero volts, replace BCM.
- Disconnect right multifunction switch 7-pin connector. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on right multifunction switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire between multifunction switch and fuse No. 15.
- Disconnect instrument panel 22-pin connector at BCM. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of instrument panel 22-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green/Yellow wire.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance on Dark Green/Yellow wire between right multifunction switch 7-pin connector terminal No. 2 and instrument panel 22-pin connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green/Yellow wire between multifunction switch and BCM.
- Reconnect right multifunction switch 7-pin connector. Turn wiper switch to low or high position. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on instrument panel 22-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace multifunction switch.
