Checking Solenoid Operations

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.5L V6 article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  1. Using scan tool, actuate evaporative purge solenoid. While touching top of evaporative purge solenoid, feel for operation. If evaporative purge solenoid does not operate, replace evaporative purge solenoid. Perform TEST VER-2 . If evaporative purge solenoid operates, stop evaporative purge solenoid actuation.
  2. Using scan tool, actuate Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid. While touching top of EGR, feel for operation. If EGR solenoid does not operate, replace EGR solenoid. Perform TEST VER-2. If evaporative purge solenoid and EGR solenoid are operating properly, system is functioning properly. Test is complete.
