Injector Control Circuit (DTC 27)

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.5L V6 article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  1. Using scan tool, erase trouble codes. Attempt to start engine. If engine will not start, crank engine for at least 10 seconds.
  2. Using scan tool, read trouble codes. If engine started, allow engine to idle for at least 20 seconds. If scan tool does not display INJECTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT, go to next step. If scan tool displays INJECTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT, go to step 6).
    NOTE: For next step, see INJECTOR DRIVER IDENTIFICATION table for injector power supply wire color and injector driver wire color identification.
  3. At this time, condition required to set trouble code is not present. INJECTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT trouble code sets if Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not detect an inductive kick .18ms after injector turn off with no other injectors on. Possible causes are: open or shorted injector driver circuit, open injector, open injector power supply circuit, or failed PCM. Go to next step.
    INJECTOR DRIVER IDENTIFICATION

    ASD Relay Output (1) Black/Red
    Driver No. 1 Light Green/Black
    Driver No. 2 Yellow/Red
    Driver No. 3 Yellow/Dark Green
    Driver No. 4 Light Green/Red
    Driver No. 5 Red/White
    Driver No. 6 Brown/Red
    JA Body
    ASD Relay Output (1) Dark Green/Orange
    Driver No. 1 White/Light Blue
    Driver No. 2 Tan
    Driver No. 3 Yellow/White
    Driver No. 4 Light Blue/Brown
    Driver No. 5 Gray
    Driver No. 6 Brown/Dark Green
    (1) Injector power supply circuit.
  4. Inspect all related wiring and connectors and repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2. If no problems are found with wiring and connectors, go to next step.
  5. Start engine. Wiggle injector-to-PCM wiring harness. If engine misfires or stalls, repair wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2. If engine does not misfire or stall, see INACTIVE TROUBLE CODE CONDITION . Perform TEST VER-2 .
