Test SC-2A - Checking Speed Control On/Off Switch
NOTE:
Perform TEST SC-1A before proceeding.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, go to step 5).
- Disconnect 2-pin SET/RESUME switch connector (located behind speed control SET/RESUME switch). Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace speed control SET/RESUME switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Disconnect 2-pin ON/OFF switch connector (located behind speed control ON/OFF switch). Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace speed control ON/OFF switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using external ohmmeter, check resistance of speed control switch signal circuit between PCM connector terminal No. 41 Red/Light Green wire and ground. If resistance is 5.1 k/ohms or more, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER . If resistance is less than 5.1 k/ohms, repair short to ground on speed control switch signal circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Disconnect 2-pin speed control ON/OFF switch connector (located behind speed control ON/OFF switch). Using an external voltmeter, check voltage of speed control switch signal circuit between 2-pin speed control ON/OFF switch connector White wire and ground. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, repair speed control switch for short to voltage. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Connect a jumper wire between 2-pin speed control ON/OFF switch connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read speed control switch voltage. If voltage is one volt or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than one volt, replace speed control ON/OFF switch. Perform TEST SC-VER .
- Remove jumper wire from 2-pin speed control ON/OFF switch connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage of speed control switch signal circuit ON/OFF switch connector White wire. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace PCM. If voltage is 4 volts or less, repair open ground circuit on 2-pin ON/OFF switch connector.
