A/C Compressor: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If a replacement compressor is being installed, be certain to check the refrigerant oil level. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the compressor in the vehicle. See SPECIFICATIONS  .
  1. Position the A/C compressor in the vehicle and install the attaching bolts. Remove the plug or cap from the opened refrigerant line fittings. Install the suction line and discharge line fittings to the manifold on the A/C compressor. Tighten the fasteners to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Install the drive belts. Connect the A/C compressor clutch coil wire lead. Connect the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post.
  3. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
