Heated Seat Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect suspect heated seat cushion 4-pin connector located under seat near rear edge of seat cushion frame. Using DVOM, check continuity between heated seat cushion connector terminal "D" and seat frame. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace seat cover.
  2. Using DVOM, measure resistance between heated seat cushion terminals "C" and "D". See Figure and Figure . See HEATED SEAT SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace heated seat cushion element.
  3. Disconnect MHSMM harness connector C2. See Fig 2 . Check for continuity between heated seat cushion harness connector terminal "D" (Black/Orange wire) and ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground on Black/Orange wire.
  4. Check continuity of Black/Orange wire between heated seat cushion harness connector terminal "D" and MHSMM harness connector C2 terminal No. 15 (driver) or No. 14 (passenger). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open on Black/Orange wire.
  5. Check continuity between heated seat cushion connector terminal "C" and seat frame. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace seat cover.
  6. Disconnect MHSMM harness connector C1. Check continuity of driver seat sensor input circuit between heated seat cushion harness connector terminal "C" and MHSMM harness connector C1 terminal No. 4 (Tan/Light Blue wire) or passenger's seat sensor input circuit between heated seat cushion harness connector terminal "C" and MHSMM harness connector C1 terminal No. 17 (Tan/Dark Blue wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open on sensor input circuit.
  7. Replace MHSMM with known-good module. Recheck operation. If problem still exists, go to next step. If system is okay, discard faulty MHSMM.
  8. Check all MHSMM power, ground, heater and sensor circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary.
