Power Seats

  1. Before beginning any test procedure, ensure battery is fully charged. Clean and tighten all electrical connections and terminals to ensure proper continuity and ground. Determine whether failure is mechanical or electrical.
  2. With wiring connected and dome light on, operate power seat switch in direction of failure. Watch dome light for evidence of power drain by seat motor. If dome light dims, motor is jammed, indicating a power drain and a mechanical problem. For driver seat, go to next step. For passenger's seat, go to step  4 .
  3. Remove any obstructions. Recheck operation. Check for diagnostic trouble codes. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . If no DTCs exist, go to step  5 .
  4. Remove any obstructions. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Check components. See appropriate test under COMPONENT TESTS  .
