Door Lock Inhibit Inoperative
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon, 2002 Dodge Ram Van, 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon, and 2001 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
This testing only applies to models with vehicle theft security system.
Possible Causes:
- Door Ajar Scan Tool Read
- CTM Chime State
- CTM Key In Ignition Switch Sense
- Open Key In Ignition Switch Sense Circuit
- Ignition Switch
Testing
- Using scan tool, read DOOR AJAR SW status. Observe scan tool while opening and closing driver's side door. If scan tool display does not change from DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN to DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED while opening and closing driver's side door, perform DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT OPEN test under DOOR AJAR SYSTEM. If scan tool display changes from DOOR AJAR SW: OPEN to DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED while opening and closing driver's side door, go to next step.
- Insert ignition key into ignition switch. Using scan tool, read KEY IN IGN CHIME STATE status. If scan tool displays KEY IN IGN CHIME STATE: ON, replace Central Timer Module (CTM). If scan tool does not display KEY IN IGN CHIME STATE: ON, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Leave key in ignition switch. Disconnect CTM connector C1. Measure resistance between terminal No. 9 (Light Blue wire) at CTM connector C1 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CTM. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, leave CTM connector C1 disconnected and go to next step.
- Separate joint connector No. 3, located behind headlight switch. Measure resistance between terminal No. 11 (Black/White wire) at joint connector No. 3 and ground. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace ignition switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in key-in-ignition switch sense circuit.
