DTC P0108: Map Sensor High: Testing

  1. Start the engine. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, read the MAP sensor voltage. Is the voltage more than 4.9 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, see INTERMITTENT CONDITION  under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM.
  2. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the MAP sensor harness connector. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Measure the resistance between the (K1) MAP signal circuit and the (F855) 5-volt supply circuit in the MAP sensor harness connector. Is the resistance less than 100 ohms? If yes, repair the (K1) MAP signal circuit for a short to the (F855) 5-volt supply circuit. If no, go to next step.
  3. Turn the ignition off. Reconnect the PCM connectors. Ensure MAP sensor is disconnected. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (K1) MAP signal circuit in the MAP sensor harness connector. Is the voltage more than 5.2 volts? If yes, repair the (K1) MAP signal circuit for a short to battery voltage. If no, go to next step.
  4. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the MAP sensor harness connector. Connect a jumper wire between the MAP signal circuit and the MAP sensor ground circuit in the MAP sensor harness connector. With the DRBIII(R) scan tool, monitor the MAP sensor voltage. Turn the ignition on. Is the voltage less than 1.0 volt? If yes, replace the MAP sensor. If no, go to next step.
  5. CAUTION: Do not probe the PCM harness connectors. Probing the PCM harness connectors will damage the PCM terminals resulting in poor terminal to pin connection. Install Miller Special Tool (8815) to perform diagnosis.
  6. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the MAP sensor harness connector. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Measure the resistance of the (K1) MAP signal circuit between the MAP sensor harness connector to the appropriate terminal of Miller Special Tool (8815). Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the (K1) MAP signal circuit for an open.
  7. CAUTION: Do not probe the PCM harness connectors. Probing the PCM harness connectors will damage the PCM terminals resulting in poor terminal to pin connection. Install Miller Special Tool (8815) to perform diagnosis.
  8. Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the MAP sensor harness connector. Disconnect the PCM harness connectors. Measure the resistance of the (K900) sensor ground circuit from the MAP sensor harness connector to the appropriate terminal of Miller Special Tool (8815). Is the resistance less than 5.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the (K900) sensor ground circuit for an open.
  9. NOTE: Before continuing, disconnect the PCM harness connectors and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
  10. There are no possible causes remaining, replace PCM. Program the new PCM. See PROGRAMMING  .
