Water Pump: Installation

CAUTION:
Do not use a metal scraper to clean aluminum sealing surfaces, as damage to surfaces may occur. Use only a plastic scraper and Mopar® Brake Parts Cleaner or the equivalent
- Clean both sealing surfaces using a plastic scraper and Mopar® Brake Parts Cleaner or the equivalent. Take care not to scratch or gouge sealing surfaces.
- Install new water pump gasket. See Fig 1.
- Install pump to chain case cover. See Figure.
- Tighten water pump bolts in the sequence shown in Fig 2 to 11 N.m (95 in. lbs.).
- Rotate the water pump by hand to check for freedom of movement.
- Install the accessory drive belt. (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install air cleaner housing assembly, connect throttle body air inlet hose. Refer to AIR CLEANER HOUSING .
- Refill cooling system. (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE - STANDARD PROCEDURE - FILLING COOLING SYSTEM) .
