Section 106 (Interior/Exterior): DECKLID/Liftgate: Liftgate: Removal

- Open liftgate. See Fig 1
1 - LIFTGATE HINGE 2 - LIFTGATE REINFORCEMENT 3 - LIFTGATE NUTS 4 - LIFTGATE BALL STUD 5 - REAR DECKLID BUMPER 6 - INBOARD DECKLID STABILIZER 7 - OUTBOARD DECKLID STABILIZER 8 - FRONT DECKLID BUMPER - Remove driver side B-pillar trim. (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM - REMOVAL)
- Disconnect liftgate harness clip. See Fig 2
- Disconnect liftgate harness and defrost connectors.
- Scribe or mark liftgate nuts on sport bar bracket. See Fig 3
- Support liftgate using a suitable support device.
- Remove gas prop support cylinders using a small flat bladed tool, or equivalent, release the upper retaining clips while pulling the ball socket away from the ball stud (4). (Refer to BODY/DECKLID/HATCH/LIFTGATE/TAILGATE/GAS PROP - REMOVAL) . See Fig 4
- Remove liftgate nuts (3).
- With help from an assistant, remove liftgate.
- Disconnect defroster connectors and courtesy harness.
