Engine Assembly

  1. Disconnect the battery ground.
    Fig 2: Hood Opened

  2. Open the hood.

  3. Remove the air filter housing.
    Fig 4: Grille Bolts

  4. Remove the grill assembly.

  5. Remove the head lamp trim panel screws.
  6. Remove the head lamp trim panel.
  7. Partially raise the vehicle

  8. Remove the license plate holder and step grip plate.
  9. Remove the front fascia assembly.

  10. Drain the coolant.
  11. Remove the lower sound shield.
  12. Drain the coolant.
  13. Lower the vehicle.

  14. Drain the power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  15. Disconnect the power steering fluid lines.
  16. Disconnect the A/C pressure sensor.
  17. Remove the condenser line bolt.
  18. Remove the condenser lines.

  19. Remove the transmission cooler lines from the radiator.

  20. Remove the heater hose lines from the extension line.

  21. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  22. Remove the lower radiator hose.
  23. Mark the radiator support location on the frame.

  24. Disconnect the electric fan connector.

  25. Remove the cooling module assembly.

  26. Disconnect the canister purge lines and position aside.
  27. Disconnect the fuel lines.
  28. Disconnect the fuel lines at the fuel rail.

  29. Disconnect the PCM connectors.
  30. Remove the PCM.

  31. Remove the transmission dip stick (2) bolts.

  32. Disconnect the engine ground strap.
  33. Disconnect the coolant level sensor.
  34. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.

  35. Remove the torque converter bolts.

  36. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors at the connector bracket.

  37. Remove the bolts from the right exhaust flange.
  38. Remove the bolts from the left exhaust flange.

  39. Disconnect the B+ wire from the starter.
  40. Remove the starter bolts.
  41. Remove the starter.

  42. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.

  43. Remove the bell housing bolts.
    NOTE: Leave one bell housing bolt in for safety. Leave a bolt that can be easily reached from the top of the engine.

  44. Remove the left motor mount (2) bolt.

  45. Remove the right motor mount bolt.
  46. Lower the hoist.
  47. Support the transmission with a floor jack.

  48. Install the engine lift.
  49. Remove the last bell housing bolt.
  50. Remove the engine from the vehicle.
