Programming The RFHM

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

An erase programmed keyfob procedure is provided within the wiTECH service tool. A PIN is required to erase original fobs. If programmed fobs are erased accidentally, then original programmed fobs can be reprogrammed to the SAME VIN ONLY. A pre-programmed fob cannot be reprogrammed to another VIN. A new blank fob obtained from MOPAR service can be added to a VIN only 1 time, and will remain mated to the VIN, even if the fob is erased from the VIN/RFHub, it can be reprogrammed.

NOTE:

If a BCM is also going to be replaced at this time, check the "RFHM, BCM, FOBiK REPLACEMENT AND PROGRAMMING ORDER GUIDE" before proceeding. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

NOTE:

All keys previously programmed to the vehicle will be reprogrammed when running the RFH Replace procedure. Once complete any previously programmed key will now only have to be synched to the vehicle by simply placing the key in question, inside the vehicle while it is driven over 10 mph.

NOTE:

During the RFH Replace procedure an option will be given to the to automatically "Re-Synch" any FOBiKs that are currently available at the dealership (without a drive cycle), and any keys still in the possession of the customer or not automatically re-synched during the RFH Replace procedure will need to go through the Drive Cycle as described.

NOTE:

Do not put a laptop or any wireless device (cell phones, audio devices etc.) near the top of the center console (the RKE antenna is located below the center console). This vehicle may not always have a center console, but the FOBiKs still need to be held in the center of the vehicle between the driver and passenger seats.

  1. After the RFHM has been replaced with new unit, connect the diagnostic scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  3. Navigate to the RFHM (RFH) in the "Vehicle View" of the diagnostic scan tool.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF
  5. With the scan tool select "RF-Hub" and perform the "RF-HUB Replace" routine.
    NOTE:

Steps 6-7 are only needed when programming a new FOBiK to the vehicle. If there are not new FOBiKs in use, proceed to step #8.

  6. Put all the FOBiKs used in this vehicle on the front seat away from the console.
  7. With the scan tool select: "Program ignition FOBiKs" in the Miscellaneous Functions menu and follow the instructions on the screen.
    NOTE:

When programming a FOBiK, have it in your hand resting on the console.

    NOTE:

When you are instructed to "Press the Unlock button" it is important that you do not hold the button. Press it One time quickly.

  8. Program the Tire Sensor IDs.
  9. Turn the ignition to the OFF position, wait 30 seconds, then cycle the ignition back to the ON/RUN position.
  10. Check for any active RFHM DTCs. If any are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX and perform the appropriate procedure.
  11. Turn the ignition off and check each FOBiK for proper operation.
  12. Finish the installation procedure (if necessary). Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
