Strut Assembly

REMOVAL 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRES AND WHEELS. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the wheel speed sensor wire harness retainers from the strut.

4. Remove the brake hose bracket to front strut bolt.

   1 - Knuckle Mounting Bolts

   2 - Brake Hose Bracket To Front Strut Bolt

   3 - Stabilizer Bar Link Mounting Nut

5. Remove the stabilizer bar link mounting nut from the strut.
6. Remove the strut to knuckle mounting bolts.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the cowl panel. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
9. Remove the strut to strut tower mounting nuts.

10. Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

• Install the strut to strut tower mounting nuts and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
• Install the strut to knuckle mounting bolts and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
• Install the stabilizer bar link into the strut, and install the stabilizer bar link mounting nut and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
• Install the brake hose bracket to front strut bolt and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
• Perform a wheel alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
