Spark Advance Vacuum Switching Valve (1.3L Manual Transaxle)
- Spark Advance Vacuum Switching Valve (SA-VSV) is located in vacuum line between air cleaner and distributor. With ignition switch in OFF position, disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connector from SA-VSV.
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance between SA-VSV electrical terminals. Resistance between terminals of SA-VSV should be 20-60 ohms. Replace valve assembly if resistance is NOT within specification.
- Connect a vacuum hose to upper horizontal SA-VSV vacuum connector. Blow into vacuum hose. Resistance should be felt. If no resistance is felt, replace SA-VSV.
- Connect a vacuum hose to lower horizontal vacuum connector. Blow into vacuum hose. If air continuity does not exist between lower horizontal vacuum port and vertical vacuum port at SA-VSV base, replace SA-VSV.
- Apply battery voltage to SA-VSV electrical connector. Blow into vacuum hose as connected in step 3). If air continuity does not exist between vacuum upper horizontal vacuum ports, replace SA-VSV.
- Apply battery voltage to SA-VSV electrical connector. Connect vacuum hose to lower vertical vacuum port at SA-VSV base. Blow into vacuum hose. If resistance is not felt, replace SA-VSV. Reconnect vacuum hoses, electrical connectors, etc.
