2.2L EFC System: Description

NOTE: All 2.2L models use the Spark Control Computer with Spark Advance and Throttle Control systems. Only models with Holley 6520 carburetors use oxygen sensor feedback system.

The Electronic Fuel Control (EFC) system is used on California and Federal High Altitude 2.2L front wheel drive models. The EFC is an electronically controlled system that closely controls air/fuel ratio and ignition timing. The Spark Control Computer (SCC) is the heart of the system.

This computer provides the capability of igniting a lean air/fuel mixture according to different modes of engine operation; plus, during closed loop operation, the computer maintains the air/fuel mixture close to the ideal ratio of 14.7:1.
