High Altitude Compensation System

A pressure sensor and solenoid valve are used on some models as a high altitude compensator. When the ignition is first turned on, and thereafter at a specified interval, the solenoid valve is energized by the ECU for a preset time. This allows the pressure sensor to detect ambient barometric pressure which the ECU uses to maintain the same air/fuel ratio at high altitude and sea level.
