Carburetor Switch Test

NOTE: Engine MUST be dead cold when starting this test.
  1. Disconnect computer 10-wire connector. Connect ohmmeter between cavity No. 7 of 10-wire connector and ground. Open and close throttle while watching at ohmmeter.
  2. Ohmmeter should show continuity with no resistance when throttle is closed and no continuity when throttle is open. If okay, go to step 4).
  3. If no continuity is present with throttle closed, inspect wire from cavity No. 7 to carb. switch for open circuit and repair as needed. If there is continuity with resistance when throttle is closed, clean corrosion from carb. switch. If there is continuity with throttle open, inspect wire from cavity No. 7 for a short to ground and repair.
  4. Disconnect coolant sensor connector. Connect ohmmeter between terminals 1 and 3 of coolant sensor. Resistance should be between 400 and 6000 ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next test. If resistance is not okay, replace coolant sensor.
