Checking Diagnostic System For Fault Codes

  1. Connect diagnostic readout box to engine harness connector. Put system into "Diagnostic Mode". Record all codes.
    NOTE: If fault codes 22, 28, 25 or 26 are stored, proceed to test indication.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Disconnect computer 14-wire connector for 1 minute, then reconnect it. Start engine and run for 2 minutes. Turn engine off. Put system into "Diagnostic Mode". Record all codes.
  3. If same code appears before and after engine is started, problem still exists. Proceed to test indications. If a code does not reappear after engine is run and turned off, code no longer exists (was intermittent). Check for loose or corroded wiring connections in circuit. Use wiring diagram as a guide.
