Engine Coolant Sensor Calibration Test

  1. Disconnect coolant sensor. Connect ohmmeter between terminals 1 and 3 of coolant sensor. Ohmmeter reading should be as follows: Below 150°F (66°C), 20-200 ohms; 150-200°F (66-93°C), 100-150 ohms; Above 200°F (93°C), 400-6000 ohms. If resistance is correct, go to step 9). If not, replace coolant sensor.
  2. With coolant sensor connector disconnected and ohmmeter connected between terminals 1 and 2 of sensor, ohmmeter should read as follows: -40-20°F (-60-6.7°C), 382K-22K ohms; 50-100°F (10-38°C), 36K-3300 ohms; 140-245°F (60-118°C), 3.9-176 ohms. If resistance is okay, go to go to EGR SYSTEM CVSCC VALVE TEST  . If not, replace coolant sensor.
