Diagnostic Test Mode
- Connect Diagnostic Readout Tool (C-4805 ) to connector at left shock tower and move read/hold switch on tool to "READ" position. See Fig 1 .
- Ensure that carburetor switch is open by placing fast idle screw on highest step. Turn ignition switch to run position. Wait for code "00" to appear on readout tool.
- Move hold/read switch to "HOLD" position and record any codes that are displayed. Readout may be stopped at any time by moving switch to "READ" position, then back to "HOLD" position when ready to continue readout.
- Before using indicated trouble code charts, perform a careful visual check of all wiring and vacuum connections in the indicated system (many problems are the result of loose, disconnected, or misconnected wires or vacuum hoses). If these components are in good condition and properly connected, use respective charts to complete diagnosis of system fault. Refer to EFC Fault Code Identification table to interpret stored codes.
