Check Engine Light

The check engine light illuminates each time the ignition is turned on, and stays on for 3 seconds as a bulb test. If SMEC receives an incorrect signal or no signal from certain sensors, the check engine light will be illuminated. This an indication that the SMEC has entered into an limp-in mode. This limp-in mode is an attempt to keep the system operating despite system fault.
