Cold DRIVEABILITY Test 4 - Charge Temperature Sensor CIRCUITCHECK

  1. Disconnect both connectors from the computer. Connect an ohmmeter between 10-way connector cavity "9" and 12-way connector cavity "10". Ohmmeter reading should be as follows:
    Fig 1: 12-Way and 10-Way Computer Connector
    G5933
    CHARGE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

    Temperature °F (°C) Resistance
    -40 to 20 (-40 to -7) 382,000-22,000
    50-100 (10-38) 36,000-3300
    140-245 (60-118) 3900-176
  2. If resistance checks okay, proceed to COLD DRIVEABILITY TEST 5  . If resistance is not within specifications, disconnect charge temperature sensor connector. Connect an ohmmeter between charge temperature sensor terminals. Resistance should be as shown in CHARGE TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE  chart.

    CHARGE TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE

    Temperature °F (°C) Resistance
    -40 to 20 (-40 to -7) 382,000-22,000
    50-100 (10-38) 36,000-3300
    140-245 (60-118) 3900-176
  3. If resistance is okay, repair wiring between computer and sensor for a short or open circuit. If resistance is not within specifications, replace charge temperature sensor.
