Cruise Control System Test No 5 - Cruise Control Set Circuit Check
- With tester connected to diagnostic connector, put system in Sensor Test "09". Refer to ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS in this article. Turn cruise control on. Without disconnecting connector, connect a jumper wire between Dk. Blue/Red and Brown/Red wires of cruise control switch harness connector. If display on tester is "00", replace cruise control switch. If display on tester is "10", go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect a voltmeter between Brown/Red wire in cavity No. 9 and ground. Turn ignition on. If voltmeter reads battery voltage, replace SMEC for a bad logic board. Before replacing SMEC, check cavity No. 9 of 60-pin connector for an open circuit to cruise control switch. If voltmeter reads zero volts, repair Brown/Red wire of cavity No. 9 for an open circuit to cruise control switch.
