Cruise Control System Test No 5 - Cruise Control Set Circuit Check

  1. With tester connected to diagnostic connector, put system in Sensor Test "09". Refer to ENTERING ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS  in this article. Turn cruise control on. Without disconnecting connector, connect a jumper wire between Dk. Blue/Red and Brown/Red wires of cruise control switch harness connector. If display on tester is "00", replace cruise control switch. If display on tester is "10", go to next step.

  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 60-pin connector from SMEC. Connect a voltmeter between Brown/Red wire in cavity No. 9 and ground. Turn ignition on. If voltmeter reads battery voltage, replace SMEC for a bad logic board. Before replacing SMEC, check cavity No. 9 of 60-pin connector for an open circuit to cruise control switch. If voltmeter reads zero volts, repair Brown/Red wire of cavity No. 9 for an open circuit to cruise control switch.
