TEST 17A - Checking Diode Assembly & Liftgate Lamps Wiring

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. If rear dome light is off, go to step 3). If rear dome light is staying on, disconnect diode assembly. Diode assembly is located behind trim panel at left rear quarterpanel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. If rear dome light still on, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  2. If rear dome light is off, place DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire) of diode assembly connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace diode assembly. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  3. If rear dome light is off in step 1), open liftgate. If rear dome light is on, system is operational. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If rear dome light is off, gain access to rear dome light assembly. Inspect bulb. If bulb is open, replace bulb. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  4. If bulb is not open, connect a jumper wire between Yellow/Black wire of rear dome light assembly and ground. Ensure rear dome light connector is still connected. If rear dome light is off, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  5. If rear dome light is on, disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to diode assembly. Disconnect diode assembly. Diode assembly is located behind trim panel at left rear quarter panel. Check connector condition and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Black wire) of diode assembly connector and ground.
  6. If rear dome light is off, repair open Yellow/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If rear dome light is on. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Red wire) of diode assembly connector and ground.
  7. If rear dome light is off, replace diode assembly. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If rear dome light is on, disconnect jumper wire. Access liftgate latch switch. Connector is located at bottom of liftgate behind trim panel. Disconnect connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  8. Connect a jumper wire between Yellow wire of liftgate switch connector and ground. If rear dome light is off, repair open Yellow/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If rear dome light is on, replace liftgate latch switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
