TEST 41B - Checking Controller & Wiper Switch
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DRB-II, stop wiper motor actuation test. Gain access to multifunction switch connector. Ensure wiper switch is still in delay position. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Backprobe terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) of multifunction switch connector. While rotating wiper switch from low to high, read voltage.
- If voltage changes from one to 12 volts, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If voltage does not change from one to 12 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect body controller Blue connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) of multifunction switch connector. Rotate wiper switch from low to high. If DRB-II displays a change from 40/k ohms to 350/k ohms, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
- If DRB-II does not display a change from 40/k ohms to 350/k ohms, disconnect multifunction switch connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Probe terminal No. 17 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) of body controller Blue connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch module. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
