TEST 44A - Diagnosing Key-In Light Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Check courtesy lights. If courtesy lights are inoperative, perform TEST 10A . If courtesy lights are functioning properly, ensure all doors are closed. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait one minute. Ensure dimmer control lever is in center position.
  2. If key light is on constantly, perform TEST 44B . If key light is not on constantly, turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, actuate key in light test. If key light flashes off then on, perform TEST 44C . If key light does not flash off then on, using DRB-II, stop key light test.
  3. Disconnect key ignition switch connector. See Figure. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Place DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe Pink/Light Blue wire of key-in light connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink/Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
  4. If voltage is more than 10 volts, remove key light bulb. Inspect bulb and socket. If bulb and socket are not okay, repair replace as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If bulb and socket are okay, reconnect key-in light connector.
  5. Access body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Ensure DRB-II is in voltmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 22 (Yellow/Red wire) of body controller Blue connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Yellow/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST - VERIFICATION OF REPAIRS .
