Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lower instrument panel cover below steering column. Remove support bar, and position air duct out of way. Remove wiring harness tie straps from lower column. Loosen hold-down nut in center of steering column connectors. See Figure.
  2. Separate steering column harness connector from steering column connector. Separate left and right switch control module connectors from main steering column connector. Disconnect wiper switch connector. See Figure. Remove steering column lower cover.
  3. Remove 2 retaining screws from bottom of each module assembly. DO NOT  remove rivets. See Figure. Remove retaining screws from back of each module assembly. See Figure. Two small retaining clips may fall out during each rear cover removal; retain clips for cover installation.
  4. Pull both switch control module assemblies outward, away from housing. Pass switch modules and wiring through rear of module housing openings, and allow switch modules to hang. Remove 2 screws (inside each module housing) retaining module/column cover to steering column. See Figure. Pry off ignition switch trim ring.
  5. Remove lower screw from switch control module housing. Remove switch control module housing from steering column assembly. Remove wire ties retaining both switch harnesses and park interlock cable to steering column. Remove switch control module assemblies from column. To install, reverse removal procedure.
