Test 17A - Diagnosing ECO (Mpg) Function-Compass/Mini-Trip Module

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Start engine and place in Drive (1st gear on manual transmission). Using DRB-II, read VSS as vehicle speed is increased. If DRB-II does not display correct vehicle speed, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If DRB-II displays correct vehicle speed, turn engine off with ignition on. Using DRB-II, read Powertrain Control Module (PCM) status.
  2. If DRB-II does not display ACTIVE ON BUS, refer to BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS tests. If DRB-II displays ACTIVE ON BUS, replace body controller.
