Test 22B - Diagnosing Intermittent Wiper Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Turn ignition on.
  2. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, measure voltage of intermittent wiper level sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). With probe connected, slide wiper switch to each intermittent mode. If voltage is present in each intermittent mode, replace body controller. If voltage is not present in each intermittent mode, turn ignition off.
  3. Disconnect multifunction switch. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of intermittent wiper level sense circuit (Dark Green/Yellow wire) between Blue body controller connector terminal No. 9 and multifunction switch connector terminal No. 1.
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Green/Yellow wire.
