Test 27A - Repairing Illuminated Entry Short To Ground

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue body controller connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of illuminated entry sense circuit at Blue body controller connector terminal No. 7 (White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace body controller. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Remove front left door panel. Disconnect illuminated entry switch harness connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Measure resistance of sense circuit at illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (White wire).
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left door illuminated entry switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, remove right door panel. Disconnect illuminated entry switch harness connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed.
  4. Measure resistance of sense circuit at illuminated entry switch connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace right door illuminated entry switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire.
