Test 37C - Checking For Open In Seat Belt Switch Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
  1. Disconnect left front seat belt switch connector. Connector is located under left front seat. Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red) and system ground circuit (Black wire) of seat belt switch connector. Using DRB-II, read seat belt switch status. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace left front seat belt switch. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, disconnect jumper wire.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit (Light Green/Red wire) of seat belt switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open in Black wire. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, gain access to body controller. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel.
  3. Connect a jumper wire between seat belt switch input circuit of Blue body controller connector at terminal No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If DRB-II displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, repair open in Light Green/Red wire. If DRB-II does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, replace body controller.
