Test 47F - Grounded Oil Pressure Sending Unit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Disconnect oil pressure sending unit. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, replace oil pressure sending unit. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
  2. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB-II, read oil pressure sending unit status. If DRB-II displays OIL PRS LOW OPEN, replace body controller. If DRB-II does not display OIL PRS LOW OPEN, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector.
  3. Instrument cluster connector is located behind instrument cluster. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of oil pressure sending unit sense circuit at instrument cluster connector terminal No. 8 (Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster.
