Test 8D - Repairing Open In Pod Switch Control Circuits

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. Perform TEST VER - 1A after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect both left pod switch connectors. Disconnect Natural body controller connector. Body controller is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of dimming level sense circuit between Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 1 (Orange/Black wire) and Natural body controller connector terminal No. 20. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance of system ground in Gray left pod switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, measure resistance of system ground in Black left pod switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller.
